Pastor Schuetz (pronounced "sheets") grew up in Houston TX, baptized at St. Phillips Lutheran and attended Pilgrim Lutheran School through Confirmation. Dan graduated grade school from Concordia Christian Lutheran School in Kirkwood, MO; he attended Lutheran High South in St. Louis but ended up graduating from Central Visual and Performing Arts High in St. Louis in 1996 where his high school major was music (on the saxophone), which Pastor has been playing for over 37 years.
Pastor Schuetz served in the United States Coast Guard from 1997-2007 and was a Machinery Technician First Class Petty Officer when he received his honorable discharge. His highlights were receiving the Coast Guard Achievement Medal, a Commandant's Letter of Commendation, and three Good Conduct awards.
During his secondary education he has earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Colorado Technical University, a Master of Arts in Christian Studies with an emphasis on Pastoral Ministry from Grand Canyon University, and a Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies from Concordia Theological Seminary Fort Wayne IN. He was ordained in 2020.
Pastor Dan gained experience in assisting the Church in teaching, and serving on councils, boards, and worship teams, until he was finally urged to go to Seminary in 2017. He considers himself fortunate to have experienced many things in life sooner than later because he feels it aids him in his pastoral work and serving people. While in Fort Wayne, he served St. Mary's during Seminary Field Work, worked with the Chaplain at the VA Hospital in Fort Wayne as well, then completed Vicarage at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Park Ridge, IL. After that he received his first call to Zion Lutheran in Maywood, NJ, in 2020 and was ordained there. Pastor Dan then received his second call to Redeemer Baytown, accepted, and was installed at Redeemer on August 6, 2023.
Throughout his professional career before becoming an ordained minister, Pastor worked in a lot of different fields, mainly in maintenance and facility management. He is a man of tradition (Baseball, Apple Pie, Chevrolet) and his passion is towards Ancient Liturgy and good Liturgical church worship.
